A1: "Police suspect same teens in second robbery"

At last, the Saturday-night story arrives, in which the same guys do the same robbery exactly one month later. We learn that PVPD has nothing on them and hopes for a tip.

Maybe I'm in the wrong line of work.

You know, they probably do, but only because our police system doesn't seem to be working to deter this sort of thing.

Consider some of the factors contributing here as well. The acres of asphalt that retailers have to put in to satisfy parking codes also separate them from other businesses, making it harder to patrol them and easier to spot police. Patrol officers are few and far between, yet the town still has the responsibility of protecting a lone all-night business. A big store is staffed by only two employees in the middle of the night. Automated security systems are easy to defeat.
The only surprising thing here, if you're of that mindset, is that this doesn't happen every third day.
