Talk of the Town: "Developers must pay their fair share"

CV Town Manager Bill Pupo makes his case against the A1 story that bugged me on April 30. He implies in his second graph that the developer planted the story, and obliquely calls out the Courier for sloppiness. He then goes on to state pretty clearly the town's position.

This is the second time in recent weeks we've seen a municipal manager responding on the opinion page to questions the Courier should have answered on page one. Whether or not you trust the word of the bureaucrats, they should get their say up front in controversies involving them.

Does the Courier at least get half a cookie for allowing these bureaucrats to comment on the opinion page? Half the time it seems like these same bureaucrats don't want to comment for a story but then whine their way into editorial page space. Probably they had the opportunity to comment but didn't want to, then complained about the way the story turned out.

"Allowing"? Imagine for a moment the fallout if they were even a bit slow to put these pieces in. They haven't much choice there.

Perhaps you could share with us your direct experience with this rather broad assertion.

Cf , 2 things
A: theres only one bureaucrat involved this time...
B:If anything the courier should be doing a little investigative reporting on this subject .
The developer and the town manager both make their case ( Although In my opinion the developer is on the wrong side) but we need some solid fact finding on this not 2 people basicly using the courier as a way to Instant messege each other in public.
If Mr.Pupo is telling the truth, the devoloper was expecting Chino Valley not only to foot the Bill for the sidewalks but he wanted them to pay him for the strip of land he would have to give up for the right of way.
this does not jibe with the "help me Im being persecuted by greedy bureaucrats" line he used in his piece.

Arent you wondering why this kind of stuff is not being
reported on instead of ...well look at the front page for the last 2 weeks and see what could have been skipped instead of this very important subject ,the outcome of which will have effects reaching far into the future.
so no cookie.
oh no snark here this is just funny
