A Republican speaks truth

An absolute must-read -- a Republican Senate staffer retires after 30 years and pulls no punches. The money quote:
It should have been evident to clear-eyed observers that the Republican Party is becoming less and less like a traditional political party in a representative democracy and becoming more like an apocalyptic cult, or one of the intensely ideological authoritarian parties of 20th century Europe.

  1. Should be required reading for all high school seniors. Of course with the constant "dumbing down" of our students it's probably to late for them so maybe college seniors instead. The Dems seem to never get their message across to average people. They dance to what ever tune the Reps put on. It's worse now than ever particularly when our president seems to have the spine of a banana. How exactly do you go out there on national T.V., wag your finger and threaten the congress not to call your bluff and then completely fold ? The only thing this president has going for him in 2012 is the Republican field. If it wasn't for that cast of clowns he'd be done.

  2. Incredible. 20 days since this "must read" article was posted and no comments. I guess it's true that silence speaks volumes.

  4. So Steven, should an obituary be written for your blog ?

I encourage you to share your own views and experience with me and other readers. How you do that matters, and I'm committed to maintaining a place where readers and commenters can feel safe from adolescent BS. So here's the deal:

There are two kinds of anonymous comments: those by people who have a genuine fear of revenge from the dark side, and those from darksiders just hiding to avoid accountability. You may post comments anonymously, but I reserve the right to treat anonymous comments as found items that belong to me and do with them as I see fit.

If, on the other hand, you're willing to stand by your convictions and post under your own name or a regular handle, your comments belong to you, and I'll edit them only on egregious violations of respect for others.

If this doesn't work for you, I'm sure you'll be happier somewhere else.
