Casserly: Court rulings complicate police work

Today's column by JJ reads like a pile of random notes from incomplete research for a story on local police work. It's a real test for the reader to figure out what points he intends to make. Perhaps he got off an a rant and sidetracked himself. In any case it's rambling and incoherent. The editors should not have let it go out like this.

Is it possible that the 'editors' do not recognise sound, good writing? And why in the world did they hire Mr. Casserly and allow him to meander on endlessly and verbosely about his favorite things in Prescott??? It really is painful.

Papers hire columnists for many reasons. Since the various possibilities related to merit are clearly not warranted here, I'd look for a personal relationship, most likely with the publisher. JJ is an old Goldwater crony.
