A3: "Council to reconsider Young’s Farm rezone"

I jumped at this headline, but then I read the lead. Standard usage of "reconsider" in this situation implies a change of mind about the issue. What's actually happening is that the council is meeting again to move the issue forward on the same track. The headline is misleading, probably just an ignorant mistake, but the sort that makes my teeth itch.

    Apparently there's a whole lot more than meets the eye with the Monogram deal. Go see prescott.craigslist.org/rnr for a taste. The rumor is that town staff is gunning hard for approval and pushing the council that way. Rumor is that Monogram will just sell off the rezoned land for big bucks and Dewey-Humboldt will get nothing like they were promised. I think I know where I'll be on Tuesday.

    No question that there's more going on than we're hearing, I'll take that as writ. And given that, today's editorial is even more dubious.

    This is a story that deserves digging into before the deal is done so D-H voters can be smarter about it and have a better chance of getting what they really want. This is the primary responsibility of the local press.

    very true. it is unfortunate that our local press does no investigative journalism at all. the phrase "running dogs" comes to mind.

    I've got a brother in Dewey & he bitches about this all the time. Monogram's been putting out paper spam & signs begging for support but no real info on what the project would be like. Nobody seems to know what to expect. No wonder they grumble about it.
