I suspect Doug Cook is happy to file this report in hopes that the Monogram story is finally over and he can get on to something more interesting. Some analysis on how the plan has changed since it entered the approval process would be nice, but Doug seems to be touching all the bases with his quotes.
It would have been amazing if the council had approved anything other than standard California commercial development for that corner. The only questions were whether the town would let them leach wet waste into what's left of the river and whether people would be able to use the riverbank as a park. Maybe a last installment to sum up?

There are two kinds of anonymous comments: those by people who have a genuine fear of revenge from the dark side, and those from darksiders just hiding to avoid accountability. You may post comments anonymously, but I reserve the right to treat anonymous comments as found items that belong to me and do with them as I see fit.
If, on the other hand, you're willing to stand by your convictions and post under your own name or a regular handle, your comments belong to you, and I'll edit them only on egregious violations of respect for others.
If this doesn't work for you, I'm sure you'll be happier somewhere else.
I think the interesting thing is how the discussion ended when the developer got miffed over how long it was taking to get the zoneing change...bet they were in the drivers seat all along
ReplyDeleteYou had to be there all these months. Some of the council really did their work and showed what a shoddy job Monogram has done, why they will probably sell the land once the new zoning is in place and how the developer was promising one thing but the zoning allows for something completely different. In the end, it passed and vague reasons were given. The mayor failed for months to control the room full of real estate agents, construction people and businessmen who booed and heckled any opposition to Monogram. I guess the belligerence of the supporters finally wore down the council.
