Editorial: "Open space sales tax could go to road upkeep"

The Courier declares its position on the just-beginning initiative effort that's been prominently featured here and here. OK, guys, you go ahead, but we'll see how well you keep your politics separate from your news. So far, you're screwing up.

    You could tell what side of this question the courier was on from the begining ,simply notice what was NOT reported on in the previous stories on this subject.
    When they put the superdeluxe giant wall mart in williamson valley I hope it goes right next door to Johns house.

    Not quite on subject, but near -- I find that the really great sin of biased journalism is not slanted coverage (which gives off a certain odor to a half-way careful reader). No, the truly egregious sin is to totally ignore a fact, an event, a public statement as if it never existed in the first place. I don't believe I've seen a single comment (or even letter to the editor) about that gawd-awful pit that the Lowe's folks are digging over on SR 69, to give just one example of many...

    Omission is easier to get away with, too, since on the surface it's impossible to say whether it results from conscious choice or simple incompetence.

    I would love it if this blog becomes a place for people to point out those neglected stories.

    I was covering the city council (not for the Courier) when the Lowe's project was approved. They insist that when they are done the hillside will be landscaped and covered in trees and shrubs. Don't think I recall what the Wal-Mart people said about their hillside.
