It's interesting to watch how the bottom of page one has become the protester's corner of late. Leafy photo of the square + people with passionate views + homemade signs = not much, really, but at least the issues are getting out there. It's like a letter to the editor, but you get a photo too.
Courier editors: The Darfur problem stopped being 'purported' genocide when the US Secretary of State publicly identified it as such. Honest, this isn't just a hippie issue anymore.

I encourage you to share your own views and experience with me and other readers. How you do that matters, and I'm committed to maintaining a place where readers and commenters can feel safe from adolescent BS. So here's the deal:
There are two kinds of anonymous comments: those by people who have a genuine fear of revenge from the dark side, and those from darksiders just hiding to avoid accountability. You may post comments anonymously, but I reserve the right to treat anonymous comments as found items that belong to me and do with them as I see fit.
If, on the other hand, you're willing to stand by your convictions and post under your own name or a regular handle, your comments belong to you, and I'll edit them only on egregious violations of respect for others.
If this doesn't work for you, I'm sure you'll be happier somewhere else.
You know, this does raise an interesting thought. At what point does genocide stop being purported?
ReplyDeleteMy great uncle was something of a bore at parties in the 1930's as he went on about the evils of Nazism, that is until after Pearl Harbor. Then everyone had always been on the side of the angels.
Say, Steven, when is the Courier going to run a piece on that anti-Scientologist fella who just got run to ground in Prescott?

If I know the story you're talking about, it's been a while ago. According to the archive it ran in the Courier on February 6 as "Prescott police arrest California fugitive," with Mirsada's byline.
